One of the island’s most vibrant Sunday traditions
Every Sunday morning, as the sun rises over Mallorca’s quiet central plains, the village of Consell transforms into something completely unique — a colourful, bustling Flea Market in Consell, a market that draws locals, expats, collectors, and the simply curious.
If you want to experience Mallorca beyond the beaches and discover where real life unfolds, this is the place to be.
A colourful Sunday tradition in the heart of Mallorca
From 09:00 to 14:00, Consell becomes a marketplace full of noise, laughter, bargaining, sizzling grills, and hidden treasures.
What started back in 1994 with two tables of used items — set up by Australian John Douglas — has grown into Mallorca’s largest and most vibrant flea market, with hundreds of stalls scattered through streets, alleys, and even warehouse halls.
Today, you can find everything from:
-
Vintage watches & retro jewelry
-
Second-hand designer clothing
-
Antique furniture
-
Mirrors, china, perfume bottles
-
LPs, books, lamps & curiosities
-
Old tools and agricultural equipment
-
Electronics, toys & unexpected treasures
Some stalls are neatly curated. Others look delightfully chaotic. But that’s exactly the charm — here, the hunt is part of the experience.
And yes… you can still find boxes with 1-euro bargains, even in 2025.

Why Consell’s flea market is worth the trip
Whether you’re staying in Palma, Alcúdia, Sóller or anywhere in between, the Consell market is an adventure you can easily add to your Sunday plans.
Rent a car & explore freely
Consell is located right in the middle of Mallorca. With a rental car, you can move between the island’s villages and markets at your own pace. Parking near the market is surprisingly easy, with designated areas for both cars and scooters.
Or take the train from Palma to the flea market in Consell
From Palma Intermodal Station, hop on the train to Alaró / Consell — the journey takes around 25 minutes and costs roughly 3€.
From the station, it’s a 30-minute walk to the market — a scenic route through open fields dotted with sheep, almond trees, and the peaceful countryside.
Along the way, you’ll pass old stone houses and narrow streets as the village slowly reveals itself.
(Tip: bring comfortable shoes.)
The joy of second-hand: sustainable, affordable, authentic
Shopping pre-owned items isn’t just fun — the flea market in Consell is meaningful.
At the Consell Flea Market you get:
-
Uniqueness: things you won’t find in shops
-
Sustainability: reusing items reduces waste
-
Affordability: great prices, often far below retail
-
Storytelling: every object has a past
-
Local culture: supporting Mallorcan families and vendors
-
Treasure hunting: the thrill of unexpected finds
Here, a “throwaway object” from one person becomes a collectible gem for another.
The market atmosphere: grills, people & pure Sunday joy
One of the highlights of visiting Consell is the lively, smoky barbecue stall right in the center of the flea market in Consell.
Families gather around to enjoy:
-
grilled sausages
-
roasted meats
-
local snacks
-
freshly baked bread
It’s the kind of simple, authentic Mallorca moment you don’t forget.
The crowds move slowly, pausing to chat, bargain, or dig through baskets of old toys. Children play. Dogs sniff around. It’s a social ritual as much as a marketplace.
After the market: explore charming Consell
Once you’re done treasure hunting in the flea market in Consell, wander through the village centre.
-
The square around the church is especially atmospheric.
-
Local bars offer ice-cold beers, coffee, or a glass of red Mallorcan wine.
-
If the butcher is open, try the region’s speciality camaiot — a traditional Balearic sausage.
Consell is also home to Bodegas Ribas, one of Mallorca’s oldest wineries with over 300 years of history. Mantonegro, Prensal and other local grape varieties shine here.
